David R. Geller, MD
Dr. David Geller, a native of Louisville, was appointed as the original medical director of the Norton Suburban Bariatric Surgery Program, when the program became an ASMBS Center of Excellence. Dr. Geller received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering at University of Illinois, working with cutting edge technology before attending University of Louisville Medical School. During residency, at Michigan State University, he trained with national leaders in bariatric surgery. Additional advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgery training was completed at Ohio State University. He started his practice in Louisville as an independent surgeon and is the proud father of his three daughters.
Since starting in practice, Dr. Geller has attained expertise in additional procedures, and as of 2023, has completed over 5500 bariatric surgeries, including more than 1500 gastric band surgeries, 3000 gastric bypass surgeries and 1500 sleeve gastrectomies, as well as numerous revision and conversion surgeries with complication rates much lower than published national standards.
